the world missions summit is successfully connecting young adults with local and global opportunities to proactively work with God to change the world and to change a generation of people!  around 3000 young people from around the country and over 600 missionaries from around the globe attended the conference!  God changed lives!

first let me explain what the world missions summit is. the world missions summit is a national conference sponsored by the national chi alpha organization and the assemblies of God world missions.  as a national movement, chi alpha strongly believes in being missional.  the world missions summit is an extension of that belief.

this was the 2nd world missions summit (twsm2) and it was in cincinnati, oh.  the first was 3 years ago in louisville, ky.  many lives were changed at the first conference and this conference was no different.  let me give you an idea.  over 800 young people committed on the spot at the conference to give at least 1 year of their life to do ministry somewhere in the world.  they all filled out intent cards and most indicated specific locations that God was leading toward!  over 600 students committed at the first summit and almost everyone of them fulfilled their commitment.  we expect the same this time.

the summit was comprised of general gathering sessions where a few missionaries from different areas of the world spoke about what God was doing and reiterated the need for people to share Christ’s love and compassion with people everywhere.  there were also sessions called “windows to the world.”  these sessions ran multiple times a day throughout the whole conference and they highlighted the culture and opportunities in the various major areas of the world.  one focused on eurasia another on africa, another on europe, another on latin america, another on asia.  you get the point.  the major areas of the world were represented!  missionaries form these area came to the summit with awesome presentations that includes set designs, audio/visual/lighting designs, dramatic elements, and so on.  they were all very well prepared and highlighted the major obstacles and the apparent opportunities for God to move in these areas.

there were also session for other ministries chi alpha (naturally :) , one more friend (chi alpha’s international student ministry), and various other service ministries.  every session was practical and passionately shared God’s heart for ministry in so many different ways.  God is creative and there is no limit to how ministries can look with God.  there is no limit on where God can reach people.  all God needs is people who will sell themselves to his vision and pursue with all that they have with radical faith and trust!  over 800 young people are going into the world over the next few years and they are determined to bring Christ’s love to people everywhere!

to bring this a little closer to home for you all.  we brought 10 students from missouri state university to the world missions summit.  everyone of their lives was changed.  i hope to bring you some stories and perhaps even some video interviews of some of the students soon.  God spoke to most if not everyone of their hearts and they committed to give a year and pray about a lifetime.  a few of them already believe God is calling them to give their lives to his mission.

i will highlight some of our students stories in a later post.  i hope you are all doing well.  this is an exciting time for missouri state chi alpha.  in the previous post, i mentioned that we are relaunching our small groups.  most of the 10 students that went to the world missions summit are involved in leadership of the small groups that are launching.  the rest of the 10 are involved in other areas of leadership with chi alpha here.  God bless you all!
